Arlington - South

South Arlington is a bustling community that is home to the Pentagon and Amazon’s new HQ2 headquarters at National Landing. National Landing has been a hive of activity since Amazon’s HQ2 was announced in 2018 and is also home to a Virginia Tech Innovation Campus and the contemporary mixed-use development of Potomac Yard. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is located close to National Landing within South Arlington. Housing options include recently-built apartment complexes in Potomac Yard and many other long-established communities with townhouses, bungalows, and spacious single-family homes in a wide range of styles. Pentagon City is packed with high-rise condominiums and luxury hotels directly across the Potomac from the National Mall.

South Arlington is home to many tech and government workers. With the Pentagon and Amazon HQ2 in the area, South Arlington offers outstanding employment opportunities. The community is also within easy reach of D.C. for commuters, and the area has several Metro stations. National Landing is one of several upscale modern developments in South Arlington that combines stylish contemporary living spaces with lots of shopping, dining, entertainment, and offices.

Crystal City Sports Pub is a popular local hangout serving tasty gastropub fare and Sunday brunch specials. Menu highlights include their signature colossal crab cake sandwich, golden fish and chips, and Bourbon Street chicken and shrimp. Crystal City Sports Pub has 15 beers on tap and lots of screens to watch the big game. Carlyle is a bustling American bistro with a menu of delicious Cajun seafood and mouthwatering prime steaks. They also have an extensive drink selection with wines by the bottle or glass, craft beer on draft, and strong cocktails. William Jeffery’s Tavern has 16 beer taps and a menu of tasty pub classics. This lively traditional tavern hosts open mic nights on Mondays, trivia nights on Wednesdays, and live music on the weekends. Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse shows classic and specialty film screenings within an ornate 1930s Art Deco movie palace. In-theater waiters bring audience members meals, beers, and cocktails during the movie. Arlington Cinema also hosts live performances from top touring comedians.

 

Fashion Center at Pentagon City has more than 160 businesses anchored by Macy’s and Nordstrom department stores. Other retailers at Fashion Center include fashion brands such as Banana Republic, Boss, Coach, Express, Forever 21, Francesca’s, J. Crew, Kate Spade New York, Sephora, Steve Madden, Victoria’s Secret, and Zara. Pentagon City is also home to the upscale open-air shopping center at Pentagon Row. Retailers at this mixed-use development include Bed Bath & Beyond, a Harris Teeter supermarket, Loft, Sur La Table, TJ Maxx, and Walgreens. Pentagon Row also has more than a dozen restaurants. Here, you can dine on Florida-style seafood at Bonefish Grill, traditional Lebanese cuisine at Lebanese Taverna, delicious Nepalese dishes at Namaste Everest, and Vietnamese soups at Saigon Saigon. Sine Irish Pub at Pentagon Row offers Irish pub grub and beers in a lively setting with regular live music.

Crystal City Oktoberfest is a fun annual celebration with unique custom brews from New District Brewing. The Oktoberfest festivities also feature live music performances and vendors selling traditional German eats. In August, the Arlington County Fair attracts enormous crowds with carnival games and rides, street performers, and live music. The County Fair features different themed contests each year and a Kids’ Court packed with fun activities for children.
