Falls Church is a diverse community within Fairfax County, Virginia. The Fairfax County section of Falls Church is distinct from the independent Falls Church City. Falls Church Fairfax has a great selection of local restaurants as well as several historic sites. Neighborhoods within Falls Church Fairfax include a private community of around 1,000 homes surrounding scenic Lake Barcroft. Lake Barcroft’s heavily wooded shoreline features breathtaking homes and five private beaches. Other areas in Falls Church Fairfax offer a wide variety of housing options, from elegant historic properties to stunning contemporary homes. The community also features historical districts such as Holmes Run Acres, which consists of more than 290 mid-century modern homes.

The main commercial area surrounding Falls Church Fairfax’s highways features an array of retailers and several large destination restaurants. Local trails and Lake Barcroft provide plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation.

Falls Church Fairfax has several shopping centers with big-box retailers and many restaurants concentrated around the Leesburg Pike and Virginia State Route 24 intersection. Businesses at the Seven Corners Center include a Giant Food for grocery shopping and lively brewpub Dogfish Head Alehouse. Dogfish Head has a range of craft beers on tap to pair with a menu of gastropub eats, including wood-fired pizzas and stacked burgers. Peking Gourmet Inn is one of the best spots in the Washington, D.C. area for authentic Chinese cooking. This sprawling eatery’s specialties include seafood chow fen, soft-shell crab, lemon chicken, and Kung Pao fish filet. Meaza serves flavorful Ethiopian cuisine in a three-tiered space that consists of a banquet hall and a gourmet grocery store. Signature menu items include tangy injera bread and spicy lamb and chicken stews. Located on the boundary between Falls Church Fairfax and Falls Church City, the Eden Center is home to more than 125 businesses. Here, one can find food, drink, groceries, and services run by Vietnamese-American families. From authentic Vietnamese pho and banh mi to other Asian specialties such as Korean BBQ and Thai street food, the Eden Center boasts one of the largest collections of Asian businesses in the D.C. area. Try a wide variety of tofu-based dishes and red bean desserts at Thanh Son Tofu, grab a to-go box at Ngoc Anh, or enjoy some of the Eden Center’s best pho at Hai Duong.

Things to Do

The Eden Center hosts a Vietnamese-style Tet Celebration each year to celebrate the Lunar New Year. This colorful and family-friendly event features lanterns, dragons, and free giveaways. Residents of Fall Church’s Lake Barcroft community enjoy access to a beautiful lake with five private beaches. The scenic wooded lakeshore is teeming with wildlife and popular activities on the lake include swimming and sailing. The Holmes Run Trail runs for more than five miles through several connected parks and lots of beautiful natural scenery to the shores of Lake Barcroft. The community also hosts special events throughout the year, including a Fourth of July fireworks display.
