It is connected to the capital via the Franconia-Springfield Blue Line Metro station and is also conveniently located at the meeting point of I-95, I-395, and I-495. Springfield is a thriving community that offers commuters a great balance of convenience and affordability. There’s lots of outdoor recreation in the area with access to parks, trails, and water-based activities on Lake Accotink. Housing options here mostly consist of spacious single-family homes. Popular architectural styles in the area include Cape Cod and Colonial.

Springfield has several shopping centers and strip malls featuring a wide selection of restaurants and retailers. Springfield Town Center has more than 250 businesses anchored by a Macy’s department store. Other retailers include fashion brands such as Express, Forever 21, Francesca’s, H&M, JCPenney, Nordstrom Rack, and Saks Off 5th. Springfield Town Center’s outdoor area features dozens of pavement cafés and restaurants. Popular spots include the high-end sports bar Yard House and the creative gourmet burger restaurant and wine bar ZinburgerTaco Bamba at Backlick Shopping Center is a lively chef-driven taqueria serving distinctive twists on Mexican classics. Try an Asian taco or fried chicken Fil-A-Deluxe alongside innovative cocktails such as the Orange Julius. Concord Shopping Center is home to Mike’s American Grill and Mexican restaurant El Paso. Mike’s is a laid-back saloon decorated with sports memorabilia that serves tasty seafood and other classic American dishes. El Paso’s fresh and authentic Mexican cuisine includes stuffed super burritos, Baja shrimp and fish tacos, and hearty enchiladas.

 

Things to Do

St. James is a state-of-the-art sport, entertainment, and wellness complex. There, you can find training programs, camps, and classes for all ages and ability levels. Its exceptional facilities include basketball courts, batting cages, climbing walls, lacrosse fields, golf practice areas, an indoor swimming pool, and even a Ninja Warrior course. Lake Accotink Park offers recreation surrounding the scenic 55-acre Lake Accotink reservoir. The 493-acre park is home to a huge variety of wildlife. Amenities and attractions include an antique carousel, playgrounds, pavilions, picnic areas, miles of trails, and a boathouse offering rentals for canoes, paddleboats, and rowboats. There are also regular tour boat cruises across the lake. Springfield Community Bridge Walk takes place at the end of August. This event begins with a walk across Veterans Bridge to Springfield’s American Legion Post 176, where there is a ceremony followed by a community party.
